The impact of Joyce Meyer Swahili program on Family TV

In 2015, Joyce Meyer sermons were translated to Swahili for the first time. Hundreds of sermons were translated at Family Media studios. The translations were necessitated by the need to reach Tanzanians and parts of Kenya who don’t speak much English. Joyce Meyer’s books and sermons had already been translated to other languages in Africa.

A new set of programs were done in 2021 and 2022.

Florence Wangara is the voice behind the translations and also the Kiswahili Coordinator for Joyce Meyer African Office.

“The feedback has been overwhelming,” she says. “There are people who have gotten saved and others have found freedom in things they didn’t understand. There are pastors who have built their ministries based on Joyce Meyer’s sermons. They use the sermons for bible study. Members come together and watch Joyce Meyer in Swahili and they discuss.”

She adds that people call to give feedback on a particular word that has transformed their lives.

Florence describes Family Media’s contribution to the impact of Joyce Meyer’s programs using the words ‘big time’.

She says, “First of all, availing the studio and ensuring there are resources needed to put the programs together. Airing the program has taken it further since Family Media can reach a multitude of people. Family Media is part and parcel of the testimonies and the success that the translation has achieved so far.”

The second set of translations in 2021 and 2022 was a result of the amazing feedback that Joyce Meyer Ministries had received after the first one. The other languages in Africa didn’t get a second translation.

The process of translation is quite tasking but Florence knows the value of her work. Being in sync with Joyce Meyer is what takes time. Sometimes repeats have to be done until it is achieved.

“You have to be in the right frame of mind because your emotions can be felt. It’s demanding but the impact surpasses the strain in doing it,” she says.
