Truth Be Told: Surviving Today at Least!

Earth is hard! Uchumi ni ngumu! Walahi na survive! At this point, most of us feel like we are being stepped on. Bills, food, and everything else seem to be following the saying “The Sky is the Limit.” And with the Matatu Owners Association introducing a 20-50% rise in fares, the burden seems to be weighing heavier. “Woiii 200 bob, wooooiii Ngaiii!” A video of a lady screaming this words went round this weekend capturing the true emotions of the common man.

Economists and other world leaders are all pointing a finger at the war. A war that most of us lost track of or are you still getting the updates? For the first time in a long time, the entire world is going through a recession, as one global community. There is one lesson that the war seems to be teaching us all, Self-Dependency. But this should come more from our political leaders and their vision for us the people. We are in a powerful season currently, the period where we elect our servants, not leaders. It is time we let the political class know they are our “servant leaders” not rulers and this might lead to a change.

That might be a bit too farfetched in the reality of only 50 days and counting. Then, is there another way out? Yes, the power of the tongue. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits,” Proverbs 18:24. Even when times get tougher Christians to get stronger. When we speak life to our situations we are changing our realities leading to doors open for us. Even while you were in your darkest financial hole and thought you will never survive, didn’t you survive? Aren’t you here today? Control your reality with your words and action then let God do His part. You will survive and blossom, there is still hope for a better tomorrow.
