The Kenya Christians Professional Forum (KCPF) a body that brings together Christian Professionals from different denominations sharing common values on life, family, religious freedom, governance, values-based education and social justice has released a press statement on the 2022 general elections and the outcome of the election petition at the Supreme Court.
The organization has called on the President-elect William Ruto and his deputy to uphold the national values outlined in the constitution, protect the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.
“We ask the leaders to promote the family as the basic unit of society, and work to safeguard our religious and cultural values and freedoms.
“We as Christians Professionals pledge to engage with you in pursuing these goals, including the journey of transformation in values-based education and governance,” the statement read.
The Chairman of the Forum who is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Charles Kajama, commended the citizens of Kenya for remaining calm throughout the election period. He also thanked religious leaders for their coordinated efforts towards mediation, justice, peace and prosperity before, during and after the election period.
“As KCPF, we specially thank the people of Kenya for voting peacefully and going back to their families and work. We commend you for upholding peace and equally supporting those who sought redress through legal and constitutional means,” Kajama said in the statement
The group of professionals thanked presidential candidate Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Martha Karua, for the maturity and calmness they displayed throughout the process. “We applaud you for respecting the role of institutions and for following the right channels in pursuing resolutions to the electoral disputes.”
As the country moves on to the next 5 years of governance, KCPF, in collaboration with other professional bodies and organisations, pledges to focus on the journey of constitutionalism, with a focus on values required by each of us as individuals.
“KCPF has set-up a Constitutional Law Team to promote advocacy on constitutional values. We are also building a platform for diverse professionals and professional groups to join us in this noble undertaking as we build our country,” Charles Kajama.
