The Gift of Christmas: The Gift of His Peace

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[6] For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
If there is one thing that mankind has been striving for, yet it has been so elusive is world peace. The reason this has been the case is because true peace can only be found in Jesus, in fact, true peace is Jesus.
Jesus is also known as the prince of peace and this peace is part of the package when we unwrap the Christmas gift.
Jesus said;
‭‭John‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[27] Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Giving us of himself means that we also have his peace. This peace is different from the kind of peace the world gives. The peace the world gives is determined by what is happening around us, while the peace that Jesus gives is internal. Think of this, Jesus was able to sleep in a boat in the midst of a raging storm because his peace is internal. His peace is so powerful that he was able to speak with power and caused the storm to cease.
The peace of God surpasses human understanding because though the circumstances on the outside spell turmoil and fear, yet his peace guards our hearts and minds. As the song by maranatha says;
He is our peace
Who has broken down every wall,
He is our peace, He is our peace.
Cast all your cares on Him,
For He cares for you,
He is our peace, He is our peace.
This Christmas season, endeavour to be a peacemaker because you have his peace. Remember,
“Blessed are the peacemakers because they will be called sons of God”
Reflections.
What kind of situations tend to steal your peace? Why?
How can you be a peacemaker this Christmas season?
Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.
