The Gift of Christmas: The Gift of His Power

‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:36‭-‬37‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[36] Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. [37] For with God nothing will be impossible.”
The miraculous conception of Jesus is a demonstration of God’s power. How can a virgin conceive without knowing a man? Only God knows. Angel Gabriel told Mary that with God nothing will be impossible.
The gift of Christmas is not only the gift of his presence or the gift of his peace, it is also the gift of his power.
There is power in his blood to forgive the sins of mankind. This is why he came and why he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, meaning that he did not have the Adamic fallen nature. His blood was pure and sinless, and he shed it for us because without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. Through that blood, we who were sinners are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
There is power in his name. The bible says that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. He has given us that name that has power. Demons tremble at that name and they flee. That name is a strong tower that we run to and we are safe. In fact, when we pray, we do so in his name. Jesus told us to ask the Father in his name.
He has also given us the power and authority to transact in his name. We have been given authority to trample over snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the powers of the enemy. We have also been given the power and authority to go into the world to make disciples of all nations and baptize them in his name.
The power to live a holy and fruitful life has also been given to us.
May we remember that in his coming he has given us his power, may we be faithful witnesses for all to see.
Reflections.
Whose name has opened doors for you because of the authority or favour that name carries? What doors did the name open for you?
Have you experienced the wonder working power in the blood of Jesus?
Is your life a demonstration of God’s power that others can testify about?
