“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,” Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu quote lives on till date. Boni community, a village that had been dependant on food donations for several years. Has finally changed its fortune and moved from receiver to giver.

“We received food donations and seed donations. We worked hard in our farms and we have received good harvest,” Adan Golja resident.

The Lamu Community received seedling donations earlier this year in March. Which has enabled them to donate 2.5 Tonnes of maize after harvesting more than 30 Tonnes. In a land that was considered barren.

“What has given us hope from this community, is that when they farmed this season. They aimed to set aside food that will be distributed to drought stricken areas. As relief during their planting season, a vow which they are now fulfilling,” Hassan Musa Co-ordinator KRCS.
