The Lord’s Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come

Luke 11:2 KJV‬
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Colonization is a very intriguing concept. Though as a nation we received our independence more than 60 years ago, we can still see the effects of colonization because we took on the culture and way of life of those who colonized us.
We are in this world, but we are not of this world. We belong to God’s heavenly kingdom, but we are residents here on earth. As ambassadors of heaven, we are to extend God’s kingdom here on earth, meaning we are to make it a colony of the heavenly kingdom. Jesus gave us that mandate through the great commission when he charged us to go into the whole world and make disciples of all nations.
As we extend God’s kingdom by winning souls, we are also to teach the new converts the culture and way of life of the kingdom they now belong to.
God’s will is that none should perish and for his will to be done on earth as it is done in heaven, we who are part of his kingdom must walk in obedience to his word.
We are the ones who carry the mandate of ensuring that his will is done on earth because if it is to be done, then it is through us.
We are ambassadors of God’s kingdom here on earth, and we are on a mission to ensure the will of our king is accomplished.
May we not be found sleeping on the job.
Reflections.
When you think of earthly kingdoms that have been, which do you think was the greatest and why?
What role do you play in God’s kingdom?
What are you doing to ensure Gods will on earth is done as it is in heaven?
