It is yet another win for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance after yet another governor joined the alliance after Governor Alfred Mutua joined the coalition yesterday. The presidential flag bearer for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance his Excellency Hon. William Ruto welcomed Governor Kingi at his residence in Karen earlier today.
“We are happy we have been joined by the Maendeleo Chap Chap party you heard the statement of Governor Alfred Mutua yesterday. And today we are being joined by Governor Jeffah Kingi with his team. Again as we match on to a Kenya of new possibilities. Those of us in Kenya Kwanza are happy to welcome PAA, into this great movement,” Deputy President William Ruto.
In his address to the media Governor, Kingi stated his reasons for leaving the Azimio la Umoja. The reason were a bit similar to the ones shared by the Machakos governor yesterday. “Secrecy, Mistrust, and lack of consultations” were some of the key factors. The governor will not be seeking any position in the alliance as of now, “We are not interested in positions, what we want the next government to do is to solve the land issues and other problems that have affected the coastal region since 1963. The deputy president and his allies have agreed to address this issue that has affected the people of Coast for years,” part of his address to the media. “A new chapter that will bring hope to our people will start”
