Eternal perspective is something a few of us are afraid of, because of the weight it carries. To think of the unknown yet having to make it a part of life, as a daily lifestyle can be heavy.
We are mortal beings with a future in eternity, if, we believe in Jesus Christ, the key to eternal life. We belong to God and we are His chosen. When we begin to accept this fact we will open our eyes to the endless opportunities we have to make an eternal impact in the lives that we have access to around us.
As Christians, one of the things we are called to is the great commission Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”
I don’t think we understand the weight of this verse sometimes. We are called to show people Jesus. Show them who He is, what He is about, and where we will spend eternity with Him. How do we do this especially when we live in such a hurting world? It is simple, we show Jesus by how we live, and more specifically how we live for and like Him.
Eternal perspective is about living a life that oozes Jesus in all we do and who we are. When we reflect Jesus in our lives we are in turn eternally impacting lives, which holds much more weight than leaving behind material inheritance.
Our circumstances will come to an end, but our lives are etched with eternity. We have hope because we know our destination, and we ought to live our lives knowing we are here on earth to surpass our difficult situations because of who we are in Christ.
