President Uhuru Kenyatta has presided over the official opening of the 45th Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) annual national conference at the Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa County today, Wednesday.
The one-week conference, attended by over 10,000 secondary school principals from across the country, is the first such physical meeting since 2019 due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in March 2020.“My administration has progressively expanded the education infrastructure to accommodate its growing environment; these include, classrooms, desks, chairs, and electricity connectivity.” President Uhuru Kenyatta
President Kenyatta noted that the rollout of CBC is on course and when schools re-open next week, there shall be more than 9M learners under the curriculum.
“Never has the role of teachers been as important as it is today, as we recover from the disruptions of the Covid-19 pandemic,” -President Kenyatta. “Our education sector was hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic between March 2020 and January 2021, when our schools remained closed; the education process was disrupted, affecting about 17M of learners.”
The President assured the School heads that the future in the education sector is secure.
