Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that lacks public acknowledgement on how dangerous it is. “A total of 1.5 million people died from TB in 2020 Worldwide, TB is the 13th leading cause of death and the second leading infectious killer after COVID-19. In the same year, an estimated 10 million people fell ill with tuberculosis (TB) worldwide. TB is present in all countries and age groups,” World Health Organization (WHO) reported.
Every year on the 24th of March the world marks Tuberculosis day. The day seeks to create public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate it. The disease is preventable and curable.
As we mark another year under the theme “Invest to End TB. Save Lives” we hope to see global leaders commit to the urgent need to invest resources to ramp up the fight against TB and convey new technologies and milestones to end this Menace!
