There is love even in the darkness

The world right now is full of darkness. Economic crisis, war, crime and a sad amount of poverty.

Yet, the word of God says that ‘the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD’ but why is it that we can’t seem to point out this love when we look at what is happening around us?

You see if we are looking at self instead of God Himself, of course, we will keep missing the mark. To see love means that our every-being believes that it is there and that it exists. If we do not focus on who love is, then our sight is influenced, and we lose out on what matters.

The world is full of changing phases, seasons coming in and out, people being born and people dying, but the one thing that we can always bank on is the love of God. It never changes.

So, what are the ways we can tap into the love of God in a broken world? The best way to go about it is relationship, to form a consistent relationship with the LORD who is love. And how do we do it, well, ever heard of the Sunday school song ‘read your bible, pray every day’? Well, there’s a no brainer, that’s the answer!

Our world is complicated enough, but our relationship with God doesn’t have to be. It’s simple, to appreciate the sovereignty of God, he must be sovereign in our own lives first before we even ask Him about our external experiences. To be close to Him, means walking in obedience. Obedience is the standard, not perfection. These two principles carry us in the ever changing tides in this life.

This is why I strongly believe, that if we have not love, which is a relationship with He who is love, then we cannot be of any influence in a fallen world.

I leave you with this:

Psalm 33:4-5

“For the word of the LORD is upright and all his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.”
