Heart Transplant: Thorny Heart

Matthew 13:7
Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.
Matthew 13:22,
As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
We live at a time when many have equated the blessings of God to material things. If you drive a fancy car, and you live in a mansion, then you are blessed of the Lord. It is because of this that some have gone against what the word teaches, in order to gain material wealth by any means necessary, so that they can look blessed of God.
One who has a thorny heart hears the word, and they embrace it. That seed even begins to grow, but it gets to a place where the worries and cares of this world begin to choke the seed.
The deceitfulness of riches clouds their mind, and they fall off the rails chasing after the “blessing” in the form of worldly riches. Jesus told us that we cannot serve two masters, God and money, for we will love one more than the other.
We are to seek after the kingdom of God first. Though we are in the world we are not of the world, and thus we are to think and act differently storing our treasures in heaven.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Reflections.
What does the blessing of God mean to you?
Does the need to be rich override the desire to live a godly life in the manner you live your life?
The seed grows, but it does not bear fruit, what godly fruit can be seen in your life?
