Devotion: God’s Plan Through Feasts of Israel

Leviticus 23:1-2 NKJV

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.’

God always shows us what he will do because he loves us, and he does not want us to be surprised. The book of Isaiah reminds us of this important truth.

Isaiah 46:9-10 NKJV

9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other;

I am God, and there is none like Me,10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’

Gods plan has always been to redeem man and this is clearly illustrated by his dealings with the children of Israel who were meant to be a nation of kings and priests to demonstrate to the rest of humanity Gods love and desire to relate with us.

Just as God sets free the Israelites who had been slaves in Egypt for over 400 years, God desires to set humanity free from the slavery of sin. God promised from the very beginning in the garden of Eden after Adam and Eve sinned that the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent. Through the feasts, God begins to paint a picture of the messiah who would be the sacrificial lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world.

God also paints a picture of the great harvest of souls not only from the Jewish people but from the gentiles as well because God loves people of all nations.

Most importantly for us today, God has given us a glimpse of what is to come so that we are not caught unaware. A day is coming when the church of Jesus will be raptured and caught up in the air to forever be with the Lord. A day is also coming when Jesus will come back physically on the earth to deliver Israel and deal with the nations.

Right after that, he will reign on earth with those who believed for a thousand years, Satan having been thrown into the bottomless pit.

God has laid it out for us to see and be aware so that we can prepare as we should. The big question we each have to ask ourselves is this; Will I be caught unaware?
