The Presidential Debate Secretariat has announced the dates for the Presidential, Deputy Presidential and Gubernatorial debates.
The Nairobi Gubernatorial debate will be held on July 11 this year to be followed by the Deputy Presidential one on July 19 and the Presidential debate on the 26th of this month.
“All the debates will be held at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa (CUEA) main campus in Karen, Nairobi, from 5pm to 10pm,” the statement read.
The secretariat says that the Gubernatorial debate has been included in recognition of the key role held by devolution in the country’s governance and the growing need to ensure greater accountability at the county level.
The Media Owners Association, the Kenya Editors’ Guild and the Media Council of Kenya says this is a great opportunity for the media to partner with duty bearers and stakeholders to ensure a free and fair election.
