Revival’s Purpose: What does it mean?

To be revived is to live like Christ.

This is not a one time thing.

When the power of God comes upon us to revive us, the all consuming fire of God consumes all that leads to self and reveals that which is ultimate, and that is the will of God and obedience to his word.

When Jesus was on earth, his life and existence is what was the ultimate revival fire, his ways and thoughts were according to and in obedience to the word of God.

If we are to live a revived life, to be witness to what revival really is… We must desire to live like Christ.

Our revival means nothing if it does not impact the rest of our lives moving forward from the moment you receive the message of revival. God does not release restoration for us to go back to being captive, rather he fulfills His kingdom purposes through our lives, which must reflect revival if we are to be effective as His agents.

The key mandate of any Christian is and ought to be the Great commission, which in Matthew 28:19 says “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Please note, that disciples are not made by people who simply went to church on Sunday or only attended large crusades, no, disciples follow, emulate, live like the one they call teacher. And in this case Jesus Christ.

For the disciples to be equipped enough to make disciples, to fulfill God’s purpose, they had to literally spend every day living beside Jesus.

Revival means to accomplish God’s purposes for his kingdom, it is not about us, though He works through us, it is for the extension of the kingdom.

This can only be done actively, and not on a whim. This is why it must affect every part of our lives for us to see total revival on that day that He returns.

Friends just like the 12 disciples who were instruments used by God to spread the gospel, successfully, to the ends of the earth, so are we to know that our walk with Jesus IS the revival that the world is seeking.

We have life, which means that we are revived, in Christ.

Revival works much like CPR, it resuscitates us to live again. Not to go back to a dead state.

And how do we live a revived life then?

Paul puts it simply in Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

We live a revived life in walking with and emulating Jesus Christ, daily. Revival brings forth life, and this means that where there is revival there must me lasting impact, anything contrary to that speaks lack of life.

I’ll end with this quote “Revival is to LIVE.” – Pastor James Okumu

May we live out revival, every day, until Jesus comes to take us home, and we receive lasting revival, that is eternal life.
