Loving God: Loving God with all my Soul

Luke 10:27 NKJV
So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.
It is said that the soul comprises of the mind, the will and the emotions. The soul is that part of us that was created to live eternally. Jesus told us not to be afraid of those who can only kill the body but not touch the soul but rather to be afraid of Him who is able to destroy both the body and the soul in hell. The same bible tells us that he who wins souls is wise.
To love the Lord with all our soul is to love the Lord with all our LIFE, not just here on earth but also into eternity because the soul does not die when the body dies.
To love the Lord with all our soul means that we surrender our will totally to him. Like Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane it is to say “Never the less, not my will but thy will be done.” This means to be in such connection with Him and his word that we know his will so that we can give ourselves to it just like Jesus did. Romans 2 tells us not to be conformed to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind so that we may KNOW that good and pleasing perfect will of God.
To love the Lord with all our Soul is to subject our emotions to His will and His word. We are not to be driven by how we feel but rather we are to walk in obedience to his word irrespective of our feelings or circumstances just as Job demonstrated, he said the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.
The enemy thought that Job loved God because of how God had blessed him with material possessions but even when that was taken away alongside with his health, Job stayed true to his love for God, he loved God with his whole soul.
Most importantly, we must start by giving him our soul by believing in His son Jesus Christ that he sent to take our place so that through that sacrifice, our soul may be redeemed.
Reflections
What does loving God in eternity mean to you?
Do you trust that His will is best for you or do you try to get God to fit into your will?
How often do your emotions run amuck and get you out of Gods will? Are you emotionally intelligent?
