Johnson Sakaja sworn in as Nairobi County Governor

Johnson Sakaja has been sworn in as the 4th Governor of Nairobi County today, Thursday 25th August 2022. In a speech addressing His Excellency Deputy President William Ruto, president-elect, among other leaders present, he thanked his voters and fellow competitors for a race done well.

He stated, “I want to acknowledge all my competitors, especially my friend Polycarp Igathe. Many may not know but running for office is an act of patriotism and courage. So thank you Polycarp Igathe for moving our country and politics forward in a positive way. You are a true embodiment of ‘siasa safi’. I hope we can all work together because Nairobians want services, Nairobians want all our ideas moving together for the sake of our city.”

At the height of Azimio’s discrepancy of the recently concluded general election vote tally, Governor Sakaja emphasized that there should not be tribal lines put out in Kenya because different tribes voted together. Sakaja also thanked Nairobi dwellers for maintaining peace as we wait for the supreme court ruling.

He also thanked President-elect William Ruto for his support during his campaign.

Other governors who have been sworn in today are Dr Ochilo Ayacko of Migori County, George Natembea of Trans Nzoia, Moses Kiarie of Nyandarua County, Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri County, Wavinya Ndeti Machakos County, Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika, Gladys Wanga of Homabay, Cecily Mbarire sworn-in as Governor of Embu County and Governor of Isiolo Abdi Guyo.
