Investigating Prayer: Prayers Advantage

1 John 5:14-16 NKJV
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
What if the president of your country gave you the opportunity to communicate with him and ask for anything, what kind of advantage do you think that would give you? How often would you make use of that privilege? God, the creator of the universe has given us the opportunity to communicate with him at any given time of the day or night. What an advantage and privilege yet many of us take it for granted.
Prayer is not a privilege only given to a few, but to all who have put their faith and hope in God. To have such a privilege and not make use of it would be foolish. To imagine that prayer gives us access to God almighty is unbelievable. You cannot just walk into the presence of the king without being summoned (Remember Esther) yet God has opened a door and given us access to himself.
The advantage of prayer is not just access to God but also the assurance that he hears, and he answers us when we call unto him. Through prayer, we can make the supernatural possible and the bible is full of examples of ordinary men and women who loved God and when they prayed for the impossible, then it became possible. Joshua prayed, and the sun stood still. Elijah prayed and fire came. down from heaven. Jesus prayed, and Lazarus was raised from the dead.
You and me who have faith in God have an advantage in this life. We have an “inside man” so to speak who empowers us to walk in victory if we consult him and follow his directions. May we humble ourselves to pray and make use of the privilege and advantage God has offered us through prayer.
