Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Appoints Chief After Four-Year Wait

Hussein Marjan has been named the current Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer and Secretary.

Revealing the appointment on 9th March 2022, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said Marjan starts his role immediately.

“I am grateful to name Marjan as the CEO and Secretary IEBC, this is after we conducted interviews and the panel settled on him,” he said.

Marjan Hussein Marjan emerged top as the most qualified and suitable candidate for the position among five candidates who were on February 28 shortlisted by the commission and were interviewed on 8th March 2022.

Others who were shortlisted alongside Marjan include; Electoral and Governance Expert Zephaniah Aura, Mombasa County IEBC boss Nancy Kariuki, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Director (KICDD) Joel Mabonga and George Michugu.

Interviews for the position of the Deputy Commission Secretary for the ten (10) shortlisted applicants will be conducted and concluded today (Thursday).
