Essential Ingredients for Life: Power To Live On

Genesis 2:7 NKJV
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
One gadget that has revolutionized the way we live is the mobile phone. That little gadget that we hold in our hands has become an information processor, communication tool and a portal that many cannot live without. But that little gadget needs power to run and every day we plug our mobile phones to charge them because without that power, no matter how pretty they look or how powerful a processor they have that gadget becomes useless.
Think about the many years you have been alive, and you have never needed to be plugged into some grid because your heart does not have the power to pump blood through your body. God breathed into man and he became a living soul. God is the one who gives us the power to be alive because he is the source of all life. That is something many of us take for granted, especially those who say there is no God.
Acts 1:8 NKJV
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
There is another level of power that those who have not connected with God are yet to discover. Sadly, some who have connected with God as well are yet to discover this power because of ignorance.
Sin disconnected man from God. God told Adam that the day he would eat of the forbidden fruit, he would die. Well, he did not die physically in fact he lived for 930 years something that we cannot comprehend.
He lost his connection with God. He lost his connection with the source of power, meaning he lived life on a lesser level than God had planned for him.
Jesus came to restore that and for us, who believe in him, he has empowered us by the Holy Spirit, and we can go through life with a power that people cannot understand.
Whatever comes our way because we are focused on God through Christ, we keep going, through the hills and the valleys through thick and thin we know that we are not alone. Where others get tired and weary, God gives us the strength to keep on keeping on.
Reflections.
Have you ever had a great gadget that you could not use because the power connection was faulty? Do you still keep it, or did you dispose of it?
When was the last time you thanked God for the power to live? That your heart has never stopped beating all the years you have been alive? Take time to do that today.
Have you received power from on high, according to Acts 1:8? How has this changed your life?
