“Do not fret, do not give up, he did not lie to you, He will make it good!”

Broken Promises

Promises, we all make them and we all break them. The making of the promise is the easy part and sometimes because we want to please others or we need a favor in return, we tend to overpromise. Currently, as a nation, we are in the season where politicians and aspiring leaders are going across the nation making so many promises because they want us to vote them into office. Some of the promises are doable and some are impossible to achieve and we know it but we will still hold on to them.
The thing about a promise is that it creates an expectation, it gives hope, it makes you dream of a better tomorrow, and it gives you something to look forward to. This is why when a promise is broken one feels betrayed and even violated and cheated especially if the promise was made in response to you giving something. A broken promise can leave you feeling worthless because you may convince yourself that the promise was not kept. After all, you are not worth it.
Then there are those promises we make to ourselves and we break them over and over again.
“I promise myself not to be in that situation again!”
“I promise myself never to drink again!”
“I have learnt my lesson and I promise myself to do better next time!”

Then we fall flat on our faces again and again and you wonder, what is wrong with me? Why am I like this? If I cannot keep my own promises, why would others keep their promises to me??

Well, I have one good news for you. There is one who always keeps his promises no matter what. The bible says that God is not a man that he should lie nor the son of man that he should repent. Has he not spoken and will he not make it good?
God’s promises throughout the bible have conditions and if we meet the conditions then God will keep his end of the promise, he will do what he has said he will do.
Sometimes it seems like God has forgotten, sometimes we think maybe it was not his will after all, because the time between the making of the promise and its manifestation seems too long.
Abraham waited for 25 years before the promise known as Isaac manifested.
Joseph waited for 13 years before the promise of the palace manifested
Moses waited for 40 years before the manifestation of him being a deliverer for his people became a reality.

Humanity waited for thousands of years before the promise that Christ manifested on earth.
Has God promised you something?
Does it seem like he has forgotten or it is taking too long?
Do not fret, do not give up, he did not lie to you, He will make it good!

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
