Celebrating World Letter Writing Day

When was the last time you wrote letter, a physical letter? For most of us it might be when we were in still students in school. Letter writing has existed for centuries with first traces rising from the ancient Egypt and Greece times.

The material used before the evolution to the current paper were; wooden tablets, lead, metal and animal skin. But with the evolution of technology and time we now write letters on papers or electronically in present times.

Every 1st of September the world celebrates the “World Letter Writing Day.” A day which was first celebrated in the year 2004 by Australian author, artist, and photographer Richard Simpkin, who adored writing handwritten letters. It all started when he began writing to individuals he considered as Australian Legends, and also received their responses!

Writing letters has become an art and genre of literature. Will you write a letter today?
