Blessed Assurance: Assurance of Victory

1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to [a]bear it.
We have all been there, the enemy has dangled a “carrot” before us and we succumbed to the temptation and fell into sin. The truth of the matter is that as long as we are in this world, we will be faced with temptation and how we respond to it will depend on us because we have choices.
The bible tells us first and foremost that there is no temptation that is uniquely yours alone. Every temptation is common to all men, meaning that you are not the only one who goes through it, even though the enemy makes us feel that way. But even with that, I love what the bible tells or reminds us, which is; :God is Faithful! Wow! Even when we face temptations, even when we seem overwhelmed, God remains faithful.
Think about the greatest temptations that you face, the ones that leave you falling flat on your face, and you may have even come to a place of believing that you are weak and there is nothing you can do about it. Well, that’s a lie from the enemy because the Bible says that God is so faithful that he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. Yes, even that temptation that leaves you falling flat on your face more often than not, you can bear it. Allow that thought to sink in for a while. God has guaranteed and assured you victory over that temptation.
We are assured of victory in this manner; that with every temptation that comes our way, God is faithful to make a way of escape for you that you may be able to bear it! God will not allow a temptation to come your way that does not have an exit door, a way of escape!
Remember, God does not temp us, but rather he is faithful to ensure we have a way out.
James 1:13-14NKJV
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
The fight is fixed if we depend on God and look to him to show us the way out. If we stay humble and connected to him, then we have the assurance of victory each time, every time. Remember, greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. We must strive to dwell in him and allow his word to dwell in us.
We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.
Reflections
What is that area of your life where victory has been so elusive?
God is faithful to ensure that every temptation comes with a way out for you so that you can bear it. Does this knowledge give you a different perspective on temptations?
Lust of the flesh, Lust of the eyes, Pride of life; Which of these three areas are you mostly overcome by temptation, and what do you think is God’s way of escape for you?
