The 7 Feasts of Israel: The Feast of Pentecost

Leviticus 23:15‭-‬16 NKJV
‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord.
The feast of weeks, also known as Pentecost, which means fiftieth, was a feast that happened 7 weeks after the feast of first fruits, and it celebrated the end of the grain harvest and was also the first fruits of the wheat harvest.
Just as with the passover and unleavened bread feasts, all able males were required to travel to Jerusalem to attend the feast and offer their sacrifices. Remember on the day of Pentecost in the book of Acts, it says there were devout men from every nation under heaven because they had come to attend the feast.
It was on that day that while the 120 were gathered in the upper room that they were filled with the promised Holy Spirit. Peter preached a message and 3000 people got born again, talk about a harvest of souls. Take note that Pentecost or the feast of weeks is about harvest. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for Christ in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
Reflections
What do you think of when you hear the term Pentecostal?
Jesus said if we follow him, he will make us fishers of men, have you become one?
If the Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses, how good a witness are you?
