Two Ways of Life: Stability and Fruitfulness

Psalm 1:3
He shall be like a tree planted by the [c]rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
A tree that’s planted by the rivers of water is a tree that has a constant supply of water and the nutrients it needs. This is a tree that is grounded, with its roots going deep. The life of a righteous man is marked by strength and stability. This reminds me that Jesus said that he who hears his words and does them is like a wise man who build his house on the rock. When the rains and the storms came, his house was left standing because it was built on a strong foundation.
One of the visible marks in the life of a righteous man is the fruit that they bring forth. A tree that is planted by the rivers of water does not struggle to bring forth fruit. When its season comes, it brings forth fruit naturally. So it is with the righteous man. Because he delights himself in the law of the Lord and meditates on it to do it, he is well nourished, and naturally, you will see the fruit of the Spirit talked of in Galatians 5 in his life.
There is no fruitless tree in God’s orchard, Jesus said that if we remain in him and his words remain in us then we will bear much fruit and his Father is pleased when we bear much fruit.
His leaves will not wither because brown, dry withered leaves are signs of death and the righteous man is connected to life.
Whatever he does will prosper, now this does not mean that he will go out and do anything, and it will prosper. Remember his delight is in the law of the Lord, and he takes counsel not from the wicked but from the word of God. This means that whatever he does is directed by God . Even when he stumbles or when the enemy throws him a curveball like he did for Joseph, then God will make all things work together for the good of this righteous man.
Because the righteous man is planted in God then he enjoys stability even in times of trouble, he is always fruitful in his season, he does not dry out and die because the life of God flows in him, and he is a blessing to others, think of the shade and the fruit that the tree provides to those in need.
Reflections.
Does your life feel like it’s drying up, or are you freshly supplied with the spiritual nutrients you require?
God is looking for fruit, if he comes knocking at your door, will he find fruit, or will he be disappointed?
All things work together for good, how has this scripture been manifested in your life?
