Immediately after the Supreme Court ruling on Monday, September 5, an employee wearing a Transline company uniform went viral on social media in a celebration mode. The Tiktoker, Cliff Ornia, was seen recording himself shouting while running around, “Amkeni ameshindwa tena…. (Whistling) Amkeni ameshindwa tena… ameshindwa tena.” Loosely translated, “Wake up, he is defeated again!” The video quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Kenyans were angered by the disrespect and jeers the TikToker Orina accorded the Azimio-One Kenya Coalition Presidential Candidate Hon. Raila Odinga, with netizens calling upon the Azimio supporters to boycott the services offered by Transline Company.
They further, called upon those celebrating to draw a line between professionalism in business and individualistic interests.
The viral video caught the attention of Transline management who on the 6th of September 2022, released a statement disassociating themselves from the clip done by one of their staff.
“As a company, we wish to disassociate ourselves from that clip and state that it was done by the individual’s will and does not in any way represent the views of the company. Disciplinary measures have been taken against the individual. We apologize to everybody, especially to our valued customers for the offending clip. As a company we are in business and not politics,” read the statement in part.
Cliff Onchiri, the official name of the TikTok-er uploaded an apology video, “I want to apologize for the video that is trending on Social Media. I recorded the video out of my stupidity in the company’s uniform. I did it as an individual, I did not record it as a Transline employee. However, I want to apologize to our esteemed customers. Especially Azimio supporters over my remarks. I did not intend to hurt anyone. I am very much sorry. May you find a place in your heart to forgive me?” Cliff remarked in Swahili.
Where do you stand will you forgive his spec or do you have a log in your eye?
