Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
One of the things that nutritionists will tell you when you consult about your health and your weight is this; “You are what you eat!”
What you eat has a direct co relation to your how healthy your body is. The same is true of your mind. The bible says that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. What dominates your mind has a direct co relation to who you become.
If that then be the case, should we then be careful and deliberate about what we open up our hearts and mind to.
Proverbs 4:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)
23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
Our minds take in principles and ideologies which then form the blueprint from which we build our lives. No wonder then the author of Romans would tell us that transformation happens when our minds are renewed because then what that means is that we get a new blueprint from which then we can build a new life.
Are you deliberate about what you expose your mind to?
Think about this, we go to college and for years we expose our minds to ideologies and principles about medicine and we come out on the other side as doctors. God tells Joshua; I have a mind diet for you and if you follow it to the letter the success and prosperity are guaranteed!
Joshua 1:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be [a]successful.
Do not just allow your mind to consume everything because it affects who you become….. be deliberate and get on a mind diet.
Philippians 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 Finally, [a]believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
Reflections
What are you reading, are you deliberate about it? If you are not reading, what are you committing to start reading from today?
How much time are you spending before the screen? What are you watching, what entertains you is it Godly?
Do you have a mind diet? If not then create one. Determine what you will feed your mind with daily. Remember the bible says “My people perish because of lack of knowledge!”
