Rescue operations are ongoing in Kirigiti village, Kiambu County. After a six-storey building collapsed, earlier Monday morning, the 26th September 2022. With reports stating that there are more people feared to be trapped inside.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi was amongst the first respondents at the scene. “Rescue and search efforts undergoing at Kirigiti collapsed six-storeyed building. Several people have already been pulled out of the rubble, and rushed to the hospital. Sadly, some are feared to have succumbed to their injuries,” the Governor stated on his official social accounts.
Through the efforts of the residents, Kiambu County Fire & Disaster Management Department, Kenya Police, Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Red Cross and other volunteers; the search continues for those trapped under the debris.
