Parables of the Kingdom: The Dragnet

Matthew 13:47‭-‬48 NIV
“Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away.
The parable of the dragnet is so similar with the parable of the wheat and the tares. Both of them point to the end of time and the separation of the righteous and the unrighteous.
Once the dragnet was cast into the lake, it caught all kinds of fish. That represents the different cultures and ethnicities of people from across the world.
The fishermen had to wait until the net was full before they pulled it up on the shore, which signifies the fullness of time. There is that appointed time at the end when the net will be full.
The fishermen, once they pulled the net to the show, the separated the good fish from the bad fish. The separation was based on the goodness of the fish and not the kind. Just as it will.be on that day, we will be separated not based on ethnicity but on righteousness, which means right standing with God. As the bible says that no one is good, not even one buy through Christ we who have embraced him as Lord have become the righteousness of God not through our strength or goodness but through the complete work of Christ on the cross. Amen.
May this parable remind us to live for him until that day comes.
Reflections.
The dragnet caught all kind of of fish, Jesus said if we follow him, he will make us fishers of men, how does this connect to the great commission?
Are you a fisher of men, are you reaching out to the kind of fish you have been sent to?
There will come a day when the nets will be full, and they will be pulled in. Do you feel that urgency and what are you doing about it?
