I’m not in government to ‘sell’ Kenyan ports – Raila responds back at Ruto allies

Kenya Kwanza said three Kenyan ports have been sold to Dubai firm.

The Raila Odinga Presidential Secretariat has firmly rejected the claims by Kenya Kwanza leaders alleging that the Government with the support of the Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga auctioned off three national ports to UAE.
In a statement, the campaign secretariat spokesperson professor Makau Mutua called the allegations wild and reckless saying their competitors had sensed defeat in the upcoming poll to make the unproven claims.
In a statement, Professor Makau Mutua said Odinga is not in government and as such lacks legal capacity to negotiate any official contracts or agreements on behalf of the state.
Mutua also said he had consulted Odinga on the claims which he dismissed with the contempt they deserve saying the accusations against their Presidential candidate borders on libel and lack truth and substance.
ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi in a press statement had alleged a plan by the Government to auction three national ports of Lamu, Mombasa and Kisumu in a clandestine deal to the United Arab Emirates in breach of the constitution.
He alleged that Treasury CS Ukur Yattani signed the auction of the ports in a deal disguised as Economic Cooperation Agreement in a plan mooted in Mombasa by the President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Azimio leader Raila Odinga and the Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
CS Yattani on his part while speaking to the press, confirmed the existence of the agreement but denied allegations that the President had mortgaged the country’s infrastructure.
