The Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has today, Wednesday, held a consultative meetings with partners and stakeholders to, among others, assess the just concluded General Election, share experiences and forge areas of collaboration in the post-election phase and beyond.
According to the Commission’s chair Wafula Chebukati, the meeting is part of the Post-Election Evaluation which is not only an international best practice, but also a core mandate of the Commission anchored in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Article 88(4)(h) of the Constitution obligates the Commission to facilitate the observation, monitoring and evaluation of elections.
Some of the Church leaders in attendance included Bishop Mark Kariuki, the general overseer of the Deliverance Church of Kenya, Dr. Nelson Makanda, General Secretary of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, Bishop Kepha Omae of Redeemed Gospel Church, among others.
The IEBC has further slated the Senatorial by-election in Bungoma County after Hon. Moses Wetangula was elected the National Assembly Speaker to 8th December 2022. Other by-elections to be held on the said date includes that of the County Assembly Ward in Ololmasani (Narok County), Kyome/Thaana Ward (Kitui County), Utawala (Nairobi City County), Mumias North (Kakamega County) & South Gem (Siaya County).
