How to lose weight fast: Biblical principles for breakthrough!

The first thing you are probably expecting with this article is a quick guide to losing weight right? Well, I have something better. We often look at losing weight, getting more money, improving our marriage or getting married and any other area of life, as things that we can solve or improve instantly, but like anything in life, all these things are a process.

So what process can we follow if we are struggling to break a habit, lose weight, experience a breakthrough, or get out of an unhealthy cycle we are stuck in.

Here are a couple of points I found helpful:

First of all, read through 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

This passage has everything to do with these 3 points for any breakthrough to happen:

  1. Determination v.24: If we want to win in anything we must do all that we can to obtain that win, and this can only be done if we are determined. Set your mind that you will make a change and ask the question “Why do I want to experience the change I desire?” This ‘why’ will help you stay determined.
  2. Direction v.26: When you have a plan and you know where you are going and have laid out intentional steps this will answer the question “how will I experience the changes I desire?” Remember, it is said that ‘Failing to plan is planning to fail.’
  3. Discipline – v. 27: Sometimes staying motivated and determined can be a challenge, but this does not mean that you stop making the changes you desire. This is where discipline comes in when we put on habits other than feelings. Out of the plan you have created you must stick to it because you know that following the plan is what you have to do to get the results you desire.

Out of all this, for true success, you have to keep in mind one thing, you must be accountable not only to God but to someone else that you trust, who also believes in you to hold you down through the process.

Breakthrough is personal, but it is not private. Do not walk alone.

All the best!
