Kenya is a growing country, and the growth is mostly in Nairobi.
23 years ago, when we began to bring Jesus on the airwaves, we did that from the NSSF building in town and with about 2.5 million inhabitants in Nairobi, most of the people received a clear signal. On top of that, the country had at that time only 3 radio stations, unbelievable isn’t it?
A lot has happened in 23 years. More than 120 radio stations, more than 5 million inhabitants in Nairobi and the communication authority have minimized the power from 5 Kilowatts to a maximum of 2 kilowatts.
And Family Media is no longer broadcasting in Nairobi only. Our radio signal is in the 6 biggest towns in Kenya. Looking back, it’s a miracle that with the partners we have come so far!!
But why are we bothering you with all these information?
We have gotten complaints that our radio signal in Nairobi was no longer clear. First, we bought a new transmitter and changed it for the old one which had been serving us for 23 years. But no change, still the signal was not clear. We changed our old mixer in the studio for a brand-new one and again no change. And the story goes on. Even after changing the antenna no success.
Now we are changing our transmitter and the antenna to the broadcast tower of Nation radio. The older tower was reaching a maximum of 45 meters, but now the antenna will be connected on more than 80 meters. We hope and pray the message will sound now clear, because such a migration is costing us more than 800,000 shillings.
