Vetting of CS Nominees Starts

The vetting of the 22 Cabinet Secretary nominees President William Ruto announced last month begun today, October 17, at the National Assembly.

According to a communiqué by the Clerk of the National Assembly Sarah Kioko, the vetting exercise, will run through to Saturday, October 22, with the exception of Thursday, October 20, when the country will observe Mashujaa Day.

Today, CS nominee for Defence, Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee, Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS nominee, Attorney General nominee, and nominee for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation faced the the parliamentary committee chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale revealed that he is worth Ksh.851 million;  with annually source of income from rentals and others about Ksh.10 million.

“I am worth Ksh.851 million including the assets I own and the camels and sheep I own. I even had to go and value my 231 camels somewhere in Kitui county,’ said Duale.

Attorney General nominee Justin Muturi who also appeared before the committee revealed that he has an estimated worth of Ksh.700 million. His counterpart, the Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi, who was the first to face the parliamentary committee said he is worth Ksh.4 billion.

In the afternoon, Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS nominee  Alfred Mutua and CS nominee for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Alice Wahome appeared to close the long day exercise.
