1 Corinthians 12:7-9
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit,
Have you met people who seem to have the ability to believe God for the impossible no matter the circumstances and they declare it boldly and it comes to pass? You may even wonder and question your relationship with God because they seem to have a direct line to the throne room of God.
Well, even though to each is given a measure of faith, there are those whom the Spirit of God gives the gift of faith. This is not because the individuals are better or more spiritual than others but rather, the Spirit gives as he wills for the benefit of the Body of Christ.
When one has the gift of faith, they have an extraordinary confidence in God that is unshakable by situations, pain, apparent failure, or ridicule. This kind of faith comes instantly concerning a situation and it is by the revelation of God’s Spirit and it comes frequently in the form of a word. Matthew 21 is a great example, this is when Jesus cursed the fig tree and the next day when the disciples saw that it had withered just as Jesus had said, they were astonished.
This is the kind of faith displayed by the centurion who told Jesus that it was necessary for him to go to his house, instead all he needed to do was speak the word and the centurions servant would be healed. Jesus marveled at the Centurions faith.
If you have the gift of faith, guard against pride lest you get puffed up and think you are better and more spiritual than others. Recognise that God has give you this gift for the purpose of serving and edification of the body of Christ.
Reflections.
Do you have the gift of faith or know someone who may have it? How does it manifest?
Is this a gift you would desire, if yes, why do you desire it?
Pray and ask God for it if you desire it.
If you recognise that you have it pray and ask God for the wisdom on how to use it. Amen.
