The Invisible Active God: Divine Intervention

Esther 4:16 NKJV
“Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
God’s people are in danger. A decree has been sent throughout the whole kingdom instructing that all Jews should be annihilated and their property plundered on the 13th day of the 12th month. This is a plan hatched by Herman who had just been promoted by the king.
Because of this, there was a great cry amongst the Jews and Mordecai makes known to Queen Esther the decree that has been made asking that she talks to the king.
There was only one problem. No one was to go into the kings presence without invitation. Doing so meant death unless the king held out his golden scepter to spate the life of the individual. Esther had not been called into the Kings presence for the last 30 days even though she was the queen.
Even though we don’t see a direct mention of God in this book, we see a people crying out to God for intervention. Mordecai is in sackcloth which was a way of showing remorse and calling out for Gods mercy.
Esther calls for a 3 days fast among all the Jews before she attempts to get audience with the king.
God hears the cry of his people and Esther’s life is preserved when she goes into the kings presence unannounced. Not only that, she also found favor with the King and she initiates her plan by inviting the King and Harman for a banquet.
God heard her cry and granted her favor. This was the moment, this was the reason she was elevated to be the queen and in this moment, she did not rely on her position nor her wisdom. She relied on God to lead her and guide her and God did so.
As the book of proverbs reminds us, we should trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding we should acknowledge him in all our ways and he will direct our path. If we look to him then we will experience divine intervention in the affairs of our life.
Reflections.
Has your life ever been threatened? What was the situation and the outcome?
Mordecai always looked out for Esther and guided her in her assignment. Who is that kind of person in your life?
What situation in your life do you seek God’s intervention?
