The D-Day the 13th of September 2022

In accordance to Article 141 (2,b) of the Kenyan constitution under the Assumption of office of President. It states that, “The President-elect shall be sworn in on the first Tuesday following; the seventh day following the date on which the court renders a decision declaring the election to be valid, if any petition has been filed under Article 140.”

In accordance to this law, September 13th has been gazetted as a public holiday; a day in which Hon William Ruto will be sworn in as president. The current Commander in Chief, President Kenyatta has assured Kenya’s that the Transition Committee has been planning for a smooth transition.

It’s my intention to oversee a smooth transition to the next administration and all the necessary orders to facilitate this processes have already been issued,” President Kenyatta stated in a Media briefing yesterday the 5th of September.

The President elect will assume office by taking and subscribing to the, “oath or affirmation of allegiance, and the oath or affirmation for the execution of the functions of office, as prescribed in the Third Schedule,” in accordance to Article 141 (3) of the Constitution.

The Transition Committee earlier today gave further details for the Inauguration ceremony that will be held next week on Tuesday ,in Kasarani Stadium. They stated that preparations for the transition from the Fourth Administration to the Fifth Administration has been ongoing from the 12th of August. They went on to say,

“The President-Elect shall take the Oath of Office as administered by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary before Her Ladyship the Chief Justice. As per the law, this must take place any time between the hours of 10:00 AM and 02:00 PM. Thereafter, the Deputy President –Elect will also sworn in,” Committee chairman, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua  said.

All Kenyans are invited to be part of this historic event. We are all called upon to join hands and continue with the sacred work of building a Kenya worthy of the sacrifices of our forefathers during the struggle for Independence and building the very best Nation that we can bequeath to future generations,” the Committee Chairman.

There will also be an exchange of the major instruments of power which are; the ceremonial sword “Sword  of Power”, the constitution and the 21 – gun-salute to signify transition of power and authority from outgoing to the incoming president.
