John 5:4-5
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (ESV)
One of the repeated thoughts that we have learnt this week from the aired devotions is that believers do not fight for their victory but rather they fight in victory. The role of the Christian then is to remain in the victory that Christ has already purchased for us. Our text today reminds us that we are victorious as long as we have believed in Christ.
With this in mind, then, the Christian must labour to continue living victoriously by continuing to abide in Christ. We must regularly be found in God’s Word and praying. We must never abandon the fellowship of believers and should constantly be sharing our faith with others. If we do this, ours will be a victorious life.
