Pope Francis: Pornography “Weakens the Priestly Heart”

During a meeting with a group of priests, seminarians and nuns in the later part of last week in the Vatican; the Pope cautioned his audience against pornography. Earlier in the year, the Pope had defined Pornography as a threat to public health.

“It should be denounced as a permanent attack on the dignity of men and women. It should not only be denounced for Children, which is an important task for the authorities and all of us. But it is also important to declare pornography as a threat to public health,” Pope Francis speech as translated by Rome Reports.

The Pope noted that the vice not only affects laymen but also men and women of the cloth.  Going on to note that it, “weakens the priestly heart… The devil enters from there.” The Church sees pornography as an offence against chastity. Hence, the Pope urged the group to delete the “information” and remove/avoid temptation from their own hands.

“The pure heart, the one that Jesus receives every day, cannot receive this pornographic information,” he said
