What are you good at? We are all gifted in different ways and when we are called to do something in the area of out gifting we are mostly confident. What happens when we are called to do something in the area of our weakness?

Moses felt deeply inadequate for the task God was calling him to—leading the Israelites out of Egypt. His self-assessment of being “slow of speech” was his way of expressing his fear and insecurity about his abilities. Yet, God’s response to Moses was clear and powerful: “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak” (Exodus 4:11-12).

This exchange between Moses and God teaches us a profound lesson about God’s provision in the face of our inadequacies. Like Moses, we often feel unequipped for the tasks or callings before us. We might say, “I am not talented enough,” “I lack the necessary skills,” or “I am too shy.” These excuses mirror Moses’ hesitation and reveal our human tendency to focus on our limitations rather than on God’s power and promises.

God does not call us based on our abilities; He equips those He calls. He promises to be with us, to teach us, and to enable us to fulfill His purposes. This means that our perceived weaknesses can become the very platforms for His strength and glory to shine through.

As we reflect on Moses’ excuse and God’s reassurance, let’s remember that our inadequacies do not disqualify us from being used by God. Instead, they remind us to rely more deeply on Him, trusting that He will provide what we need when we step out in faith.
