Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has today Thursday taken his campaign on the bodaboda sector to Coast where he chaired a meeting with key stakeholders in the transport and security sectors.
The meeting is aimed at communicating new directives targeted at bringing sanity in the bodaboda sector.
Part of directives given includes mandatory procedural acquisition of Smart Riders Licenses as well as vetting and enrolment of riders into registered saccos.
The CS said the government had waived Sh5,800 registration fee to enable the riders register.
Thousands of riders have been arrested and their motorbikes detained in an operation launched after some of them were captured molesting a female motorist along Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi.
