Proverbs 16:20 AMP
[20] He who pays attention to the word [of God] will find good, And blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is he who trusts [confidently] in the Lord.
We all love to claim the promises of God because they are enriching and full of life blessings and peace. But claiming them alone is not enough. As one pastor put it, obedience to God’s word attracts his blessings, while disobedience leads to curses.
The biggest benefit of walking in obedience to God is eternal life. God’s will is that we believe in whom he sent, Jesus Christ. When we obey, we receive eternal life.
Obedience to God puts us in a position to claim and enjoy the promises that God has given us. As the scripture says, if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the fruit of the land.
Answered prayer is another benefit of Prayer. Jesus said that if we abide in him and his word abides in us, then we can ask the Father anything we desire in his name, and it will be given to us.
The bible tells us that when we submit to God, then we can resist the devil, and he will flee from us. Obedience gives us the power to overcome the enemy. Jesus said that he has given us power to trample over snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the powers of the enemy.
The list goes on and on but all in all, to sum it up, obedience to God’s word brings us to the place of peace with God and that provides us with access to all that God has because we are now his children and heirs with Christ.
Reflection.
What has walking in disobedience to God’s word cost you?
What benefits have you enjoyed because of obeying God?
Which of the two do you want more of?
