John 15:7 NKJV
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
If God is truly a God of the impossible, how then do you ask and receive the impossible? We all have things we would like to see God do in our lives but what is the key to receiving what we ask for?
Jesus gave us a promise but it requires our participation. We must abide in him meaning staying in him, accepting him and making him and his ways the number one priority in our lives. This means dying to self and our dreams ambitions and desires. After we have done that, we must then allow his words to abide in us. We must read his word, meditate upon it and allow this word to determine how we think and respond to what’s around us. When you think about it, God told Joshua something similar that this book of the law should not depart from his mouth but he should be careful to meditate on it day and night so as to do what it says and he will be prosperous and get good success.
When Christ becomes our focus in word thoughts and actions then our mind and desires will be aligned to his and thus when we ask the Father what we desire in the name of Jesus it will be granted to us.
When asking we must believe and not doubt in our hearts that God is able to do what we ask because our relationship with God is built on faith. We must also never forget that in his time he will make it good. Abraham believed God for the impossible and he waited for years until it was Gods appointed time.
Reflections.
Are you abiding in Christ?
Does his word abide in you?
What is the desire that you are asking God for?
