God of The Impossible: Power Over Time

Joshua 10:12-13 NKJV
12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:
“Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies.
God does not exist confined in the realm of time like we are. Before there was time, God existed. He is the one who created time setting the sun and moon in place to mark day and night. It is God who determines how many seconds are in a minute, how many minutes make an hour, and how many hours make a day.
Joshua understood that God is sovereign and that the assignment he was on was a God-led assignment. To imagine that a man had the faith to ask God to cause the sun and the moon to stand still until he finished the assignment before him is unbelievable. What manner of faith is this? God answered and caused the sun to stand still until the people had revenge on their enemies.
Sometimes we worry about time as we answer God’s call. We may feel like we wasted so many years or we have such little time to accomplish what God has called us. We must never forget that the God who called us has power over times and seasons. Abraham and Sarah were called in their old age and in man’s eyes it was too late but God was able to redeem time for them and cause them to have a child in their old age.
God can accomplish in a day what it would take us a lifetime to accomplish.
King Hezekiah prayed and God added him 15 more years. Think about Lazarus who was dead buried and it seems all was over. God resurrected him from the dead and added him more years because our times and seasons are in God’s hands.
The God who has saved you and called you is not limited with time, he lives in the realm of eternity. The Bible says that a day to him is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day meaning time cannot limit him. He is able to restore the years that the locusts have eaten. Trust him, walk with him in obedience, and accomplish what he has called you to do.
Reflections
In what area of your life do you feel limited with time?
Do you ever feel like you have wasted time and you should have done more? How do you navigate through those feelings?
Too old or too young, which is the excuse you tend to lean on? Arise and do what God has called you to do.
