Proverbs 16:3 NIV
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
One of the scriptures that many believers love to quote is Jeremiah 29:11 where God says that he knows the plans he has for you. The question I love asking is this; Yes, God knows the plans he has for you, what plans do you have? Do you know the plans that God has for you?
You are either living your life on purpose because you have a plan, or you are just getting by day by day by default. I have met people who believe that planning is a lack of faith and depending on self. Nothing could be further from the truth. God is a God who plans. When you read the creation story, you will see that God had a plan that he executed well.
One of the reasons Pharaoh appointed Joseph to be second in command is because he had a plan. He envisioned what Egypt needed to do with the 7 years of plenty so that they would be prepared for the 7 years of lack.
A plan requires one to think ahead, and thus many who do not plan miss out on opportunities that God brings their way. It is said that if we fail to plan, then we are planning to fail.
We plan because we have faith because we believe God will do that which he has promised to do. Our key scripture tells us to commit our plans to God, and he will establish them. Our plans should not be in conflict with the word of God. The reading of God’s word helps us gain principles which give us the truth upon which we build our lives. It is based on those principles that we then come up with plans that we commit to God, and he establishes them.
If you don’t have a plan, write one because it gives you the roadmap of where you want to go and how to get there.
Reflections
Do you plan ahead, or are you a spur of the moment person?
How do you feel when other people inconvenience you because they failed to plan?
Do you know God’s plan for your life?
