AIC Church ordains first Woman Pastor in Narok West

Eleanor Naserian Nchoe became the first woman to be ordained as pastor of Africa Inland Church (AIC) in Narok West. The colorful ordination service was held at AIC Sekenani church in Narok West.

For 3 years, Pastor Naserian has been involved in adult literacy classes in Narok. She says, “Ä few women can now read their bibles courtesy of the classes.”

In a community where women are given a back seat in spiritual and leadership matters, Pastor Eleanor has shown that it’s possible with resilience, hard work and God on your side.

“When I finished form 6 in the 80s, I told my father that I wanted to become a pastor and he wasn’t pleased with me,” she recalls. “But I thank God because his timing is the best.”

Narok North Mp Agnes Pareiyo congratulated Pastor Eleanor on her ordination and thanked her husband for supporting her become a an ordained minister.

“This is an achievement for us women,” she said. “These are positions that we didn’t think will ever be there. But now that we are there, it means a woman can go the highest she can.”
