The Religious leaders-led Dialogue Reference Group has issued a press statement on the current issues of National Concern as the country heads to the August 9th poll.

The group consisting of the Interfaith leaders while addressing the press at Ufungamano House shared their position and recommendations regarding the readiness of the nation and necessary actions to ensure peaceful, free, fair, and credible General Elections.

“We call upon the state officers to desist from engagement in political activities as required of them by law Article 75, of our Constitution 2010. Further to this, we continue to urge our President as a symbol of national unity to  balance his right to support a candidate of his choice with the duty to assure the public the state will not unduly influence the electoral process.” Archbishop Martin Kivuva

The group reiterated that for a better Kenya, we require a greater sense of constitutionalism where all aspirants will accept the results as announced by the IEBC and that those aggrieved should seek redress in courts and not on the streets.

“Refuse to be incited to engage in violence or any other acts of lawlessness before, during or after the elections.”

The leaders called on Kenyans not to allow themselves to be used by people who only want to be elected so as to enrich themselves with public resources.

“Carefully assess and vet the persons aspiring to be elected to different positions. Purpose to only vote for persons who have high moral standards and have clear plans of action.”

They have called on Kenyans to take time to pray for the nation and for the 2022 elections.
