God is revealed from Faith to Faith meaning that our faith has to grow. The Bible says that to each has been given a measure of faith. That scripture reminds me of the parable of the talents, each servant was given something but each had the responsibility to grow what they had been given. In the same manner, as each one of us has been given a measure of faith, it is our responsibility to grow our faith.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If we are to grow in our faith then we must be students of the word. Remember, faith is simply living your life under God’s instruction. How then do you get the instructions if you do not read the word and pray?

Now reading the Word and prayer is not enough. The bigger issue is, do we believe what we read? Do we believe that the Bible contains God’s instructions to us? If we do not believe then we will not act on what we have read. If you talk to different people they will tell you they know about Jesus and that he died and rose back from the dead but they do not believe hence they have not accepted him. The Bible says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.

This also leads to another important thing, what are you confessing with your mouth? Are you confessing what the word says or are you confessing doubt and fear? Jesus said that “You shall say to this mountain, be ye removed and be cast into the midst of the sea.” Remember, out of the abundance of the mouth, the mouth speaks. If your heart is full of the word, then you will speak the word. God told Joshua to ensure that the book of the law does not depart from his MOUTH. This means he was to speak it and meditate on it day and night. He was to be obsessed with the word. This would ensure that he would then be careful to do all that the word says.

Finally,  we must act on the word. James tells us that faith without works is dead. Abraham the father of faith believed God and acted on what God instructed him to do. Faith is not a passive word, it is an active word.

A great circus performer would stretch a long steel cable across the Niagara Falls, and walk and dance across the tight cable to the amazement of the onlookers.

On one occasion he took a wheelbarrow full of bricks and amazed the crowds by pushing it effortlessly across the tight cable from one side of the falls to the other. Blonding then turned to the crowds and asked, “Now, how many of you believe that I can push a man across the wire in the wheelbarrow?”

The vote was unanimous, everyone cheered and held their hands high, they all believed he could do it!

“Then,” Blonding asked, “Would one of you volunteer to be that individual?”

As quickly as the hands went up, they went back down again. Not a single person would volunteer to ride in the wheelbarrow entrusting their life to Blonding.

When God asks for volunteers, are you a willing participant?

Faith without accompanying works is dead!
