Daniel 6:25-27

25 Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end.

27 He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the [i]power of the lions.

In our humanity, we sometimes fail to appreciate that God sees the beginning from the end. His ways are higher than our ways. The aftermath of Daniel being thrown into the lion’s den was that God was glorified. Remember, Daniel was serving in a kingdom where the people worshipped idols, and they did not recognize the one true God.

What God accomplished by allowing Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den and then rescuing him was to show forth that he is the one true God who saves.

The very king who had signed a royal statute stating that no other god should be petitioned for the next 30 days except him is now praising God. I believe that this was a day or two after the king had signed this statute. Now we see him making another declaration, this time to the people of all nations and languages that dwell on the earth, declaring that men must tremble and fear the God of Daniel because he is the living God.

What the enemy had planned for evil, God turned around and used it for good. The enemies of Daniel who had sought to lay a trap for him ended up being consumed by the same lions they had planned for Daniel.

The lesson for you and I to learn here is that we must trust God even when things seem to be getting from bad to worse. God always has a good plan and, as he promised, all things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

After this incident, the Bible records that Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

We must never forget, that the central purpose in all that God does is that people may know him and have a relationship with him because God loves people more than anything.
